Happy Birthday, Cata!

Catalina's 27th Birthday
Catalina Navarrete would have turned 27 today. HM Zoom+, the Home of the Mother’s kids’ magazine, published this article about her in April 2019.

When she died in the 2016 earthquake in Ecuador with Sr. Clare, María Augusta, Jazmina Mayra and Valera, she was just 23 years old. It had only been three years since she started to get to know the Lord. After initial battles and defeats, she gave up before Love—God’s Love—who offered “to make all things new” in her life. And she took off.

HM Zoom+, the Home of the Mother’s kids’ magazine, published this article about her in April 2019. A drawing that characterizes Catalina with her big smile and dark, penetrating eyes takes up part of the page. Around the drawing are small text boxes that give us an idea about her life and her pleasant personality.

Yet, once you start reading… it falls short, right? For this reason and for those who wish to learn more about Catalina, her spiritual guide Sister Sara María Jiménez, wrote a book about her conversion story titled, Can I Go to Heaven? [Currently available in Spanish only.] For Sr. Sara María, Catalina is a beacon of light in the midst of a generation that lives in shadows, youth capable of much more than what people think, because they have been made for something greater and nobler than the sin they sink into.

Happy birthday, Catalina, and thanks for your generous yes to the Lord. Your life shows that God can raise greatness out of rubble. God can send a ray of his light on a dark and shadowy life and change it into a source of powerful light to shine on other lives.
