Christian Huerta is a young, Catholic, lay missionary. He lives in Los Angeles, California, although he is originally from Mexico. He proclaims the Gospel with the boldness of his ancestors and his way of defending the Catholic Church has its origin in a deep love for Jesus Christ.
Christian discovered Sr. Clare on November 14, 2018, when we published her documentary film, All or Nothing: Sr. Clare Crockett, on YouTube. The following day Christian uploaded a brief video in Spanish on his YouTube channel with an explicit title: “I BEG you, watch the FULL MOVIE!” «¡Les SUPLICO, véanlo COMPLETO!» In the video he asks his followers to watch Sr. Clare’s movie while he promises to record a second video to “examine minutely the great TREASURE the documentary contains.”
On December 17, 2018, Christian Huerta uploaded a new video to YouTube titled: “What I got out of the movie about Sr. Clare.” «Lo que me dejó la película de la Hna. Clare Crockett». In 37 minutes, Christian reflects upon the main characteristics of Sr. Clare’s life and confesses that he felt very identified with her. During the last minutes of his video, Christian points out something about Sr. Clare’s life that really drew his attention, that is, that not even under the rubble did she let go of the guitar. For Christian, this image is a sign: it reminds him of a runner ready to pass the baton to the next runner. He affirms:
“That piece of the guitar that the lifeless Sr. Clare did not let go of is a way of telling us: ‘Not even under the rubble did I let go of what God was calling me to do in the present moment when the earthquake came.’ I think this is the true fruit that Sr. Clare’s life should bear in us: motivate us to take the baton, the responsibility that what she was doing on earth, and without a doubt, what she continues to do from Heaven. There are things that in Heaven she cannot do here and that are up to you and me.”*
He concludes saying, “Broadly speaking, this is my perception about this great movie. I believe it is a movie worth seeing two, three or four times to ponder Sr. Clare’s life. In this way we may give our all—each person in his particular vocation God has called him or her to—and not be mediocre Catholics.”
We invite you to listen to Christian Huerta’s complete reflection about Sr. Clare in Spanish. It is a tribute from this generous evangelizer to our sister: «Lo que me dejó la película de la Hna. Clare Crockett»
