“Dear Mother,” A Poem by Sr. Clare

Clare in 2002

In the HM Magazine issue number 109, November-December 2002, we found this poem that Sr. Clare, candidate for the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother at the time, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Dear Mother,

When I am afraid,
beneath your mantle
You protect me.

When I am lost,
You extend your
hand to guide me.

When I am weak,
with your loving gaze
You strengthen me.

When I am alone,
with your open arms
You embrace me.

When I am weary,
You, my Mother,
let me rest in You.

When I am discouraged,
You smile and encourage me.
How could I
not trust in You!

You, who never
leave my side,
my Mother, my Model,
Queen of my heart,
the one I can trust.

You, my Mother,
Queen of my heart,
my refuge.
