I Loved Sister Clare Dearly

wendynelms

Wendy Nelms, USA:  In the midst of that sorrow that I felt she was always there telling me that, the joy of the Lord will be my strength.

Wendy Nelms got to know Sr. Clare in the Parish of the Assumption in Jacksonville, Florida. A few days after the earthquake on April 23, 2017, Wendy wrote us remembering how much Sr. Clare helped her during difficult times in her life and how much she helped her children and the children at the school.

You all have been in my prayers. I can tell you I have always wanted to have a great devotion to the Rosary but honestly I never have. Last Saturday around 6:30 pm we had a family Rosary at our home with about 50-60 people. Since that day with all that has happened I have felt the desire to pray the Rosary daily. And what used to feel like repetition without meaning now has become like meditation. Not sure if that makes sense but I wanted to share it anyway.

I loved Sister Clare dearly. While she was here I went through two of my three miscarriages. In the midst of that sorrow that I felt she was always there telling me that, the joy of the Lord will be my strength. You all know, but it must be said, that she brought a charisma and joy to our school that it so needed.

Also, Katie (my daughter) and a few other teachers' kids were always stuck here after school so Sister Clare would always bring them up to your small chapel and sing with them in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I remember hearing them while in the courtyard. This story was from Katie and although Katie doesn't talk much about her faith she did say Sister Clare was one person who really helped her be closer to God.

I have talked to her daily. (Sounds kinda weird) but I just feel that she is listening and that her great love of the youth will bring great fruit to our community as well as all the others that her life touched.

You all have blessed us more than you know.

Thank you and we love you,

Wendy Nelms & Family
