A Sister Full of Life and Joy

Gema Abigail Loor Vera, Ecuador:

Sr. Clare gave a class to Gema and her husband Jackson to prepare them to receive the sacrament of Matrimony.

Sr. Clare gave me and Jackson a Pre-Cana course very shortly before our wedding. She insisted many times [that], “In marriage there are three people: God and the two spouses. That is the base of everything.” She encouraged us to not live a common, monotonous life!

We remember her words when she said, “Don’t ever take off your wedding rings. They are your covenant, a sign for the world of your union. You have to live out God’s joy in a holy family.”

Later on, she gave us a few talks in preparation for Emmanuel’s (our son) Baptism. She affectionately called him “Bolita,” (chubby in Spanish).

Now, in difficult moments, we remember everything that Sr. Clare encouraged us to live in order to bring God to the world and fill it with hope.
