Gema and Family

Gema Loor:  She always, always encouraged us to look to Our Lady, even to write letters to her when we were having a hard time. I also remember her saying that we should never take off our wedding rings, and we never do.

Gema Loor is a young mother from Playa Prieta, Ecuador. She shares her memories of Sr. Clare, since she and her husband spent many memorable moments with her, including their preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage.

The time we shared with her was enough to notice in her:

- True joy of soul coupled with so much serenity.
- Hope, even in the smallest things. She always gave it that spiritual and transcendental touch.
- Humility and patience with everything. It was as if she had affinity with everything. She was never exclusive in her relationship with others. She radiated love to everyone.

The mere lifestyle she led makes me believe that she lived in constant union with God. She was a living reflection of faith, hope, charity with everyone, of overcoming herself to see others happy and to bring smiles to their faces.

In 2015 she gave the pre-marriage talk to my husband and me.  She also gave us the baptismal talk for our first son, whom she called “the Ball”—he was chubby. She always, always encouraged us to look to Our Lady, even to write letters to her when we were having a hard time. I also remember her saying that we should never take off our wedding rings, and we never do. She taught us to put our trust in Our Lady, who would give us the light to guide our marriage and serve her Son.

Sr. Clare will forever shine with the light of God.
