She taught me to love people as they are, with their faults and virtues. When she saw a rebellious young person, she would say that they were running away from what Jesus was asking of them. That’s why they were trying to fill the emptiness they had in their heart with worldly stuff.
Sr. Clare totally changed the view I had of nuns. I had always thought of them as bitter people, but when I met Sr. Clare that mentality went away and became something totally different.
I have no doubt that Sr. Clare had a great gift for dealing with young people. I say this because I am one of those people who find it difficult to open up to others. She was the one person I felt I could open up to. Sr. Clare helped me grow closer to the Lord and to know who He really is. Although I knew that there was a God I did not know what He was or what He was calling me to.
If you were to ask me how I see Sr. Clare right now, I would definitely say that she is a GIFT. I am always impressed by all the good she does.
She taught me to love people as they are, with their faults and virtues. When she saw a rebellious young person, she would say that they were running away from what Jesus was asking of them. That’s why they were trying to fill the emptiness they had in their heart WITH WORLDLY STUFF, and when she saw that, she was really interested in that soul and did not waste a second to help. The impressive thing is that those young people who were rebellious opened up to her very trustingly. For them, she was a good friend.
At one point in my life, I was going through a complicated family situation. I remember being in the school chapel telling Sr. Clare about it and the only answer I received from her was, "Stop looking at everything that makes you sad and look at all the beautiful things you have around you! Always smile, even if it is hard." This sentence has helped me a lot throughout my life. When she told me to look at what's beautiful around me, I understood perfectly that it is enough for me to look at Jesus in the tabernacle and Our Mother in Heaven, who ALWAYS wait for us with open arms.
When you don't know what to do, look at the tabernacle and ask Sr. Clare for help. I assure you she can’t resist.
I am so happy and thankful to have known Sister Clare.
