Valeria, whom I affectionately called Valerita, was my classmate, good friend, sister, and guide.
I am a member of the Home of the Mother, and I study at the Holy Family Educational Center in Playa Prieta (Ecuador). I had the privilege of knowing Sr. Clare and all of the girls.
Valeria, whom I affectionately called Valerita, was my classmate, good friend, sister, and guide. She was such a kind girl. She has definitely been an example for me of determination and constancy. Valeria helped me a lot. One of the memories I have of her is when I joined the Home of the Mother. Some of my classmates did not agree with my choice, but she was always with me, backing me up. One thing that she always said to me was, “Don’t be a coward, keep going. Our Lord and Our Lady are with you.”
She often said that she was in love with the Lord, and that God had an immense love for her. I remember the phrase that we used to say to each other, “Because Jesus loves me.” When we would ask her, “Why are you so happy?” She would answer saying, “Because I am doing what God wants.”
