María Cristina Pinargote, Ecuador:
" In that moment, Valeria came in. When she found out what my dilemma was, she suggested that I could offer it up."
Valeria was a very beautiful girl with a magnanimous soul. She was always happy and this shined through in all she did. She gave me a piece of advice at the Easter Vigil during the last Holy Week that I spent with the girls. I usually dressed very elegantly at that ceremony, to celebrate the Lord’s victory, like when you go to a big party and you wear your best out of respect and affection for the person who invited you. But it was Our Lady’s day and I had asked Her how She had wanted me to dress. In the end, I felt that I had to be elegant. We had a moment of free time and I took advantage to change into more elegant clothes, but I couldn’t leave the room and I didn’t understand why. I thought, “I’m doing what Our Lady wants.” I sat there a while thinking. In that moment, Valeria came in. When she found out what my dilemma was, she suggested that I could offer up wearing plain clothes instead of elegant clothes. I hadn’t thought of that; maybe it was Our Lady putting my generosity to the test. Finally, I wore the clothes that Our Lady wanted me to wear. I later thanked Valeria because she had helped me a lot.
