Not very long ago, I received the grace of going on a pilgrimage to Italy. One of the places we visited was Turin where we had our "appointment" with St. John Bosco and St. Dominic Savio. Both of their tombs are found in the Basilica of Our Lady, Help of Christians. This basilica was built in honor of the Virgin Mary by St. John Bosco.
St. Dominic Savio, St. John Bosco's favorite disciple, who passed away shortly before turning fifteen, said, "I'm in a hurry to be a saint." Our sister Valeria took this sentence as her own, and it became her brief life's motto.
When we reached the tomb of the young saint, I knelt down and said a very big "thank you" for his example, which had helped our sister so much. While I was doing this act of thanksgiving, I had the conviction that, like St. Dominic Savio had been a role model for Valeria, she was going to be so for many others, and that we have to entrust the holiness of children and young people to her.
