What I most remember about Maria Augusta is her smile. The times I was able to speak with her, I could perceive her great love for Jesus and Our Lady. She was very nice and was always interested in knowing how your studies were going, what you had done that day… She also transmitted a lot of peace and joy.
After the earthquake I found out that one of her favorite quotes was from Saint Josemaria Escriva.
“You made up your mind after reflection, rather than with any burning enthusiasm. Although you would have very much liked to feel it, there was no room for sentiment: you gave yourself to God when you were convinced that that is what He wanted.
And, since then, you have felt no serious doubts; rather you experience a calm and peaceful joy, which sometimes overflows. It is thus that God rewards the daring feats of Love” (Furrow, Point 98).
That quote helped me to accept my vocation. Now it is like a memory that I have of her; when I read it, I can see her smile and her total self-giving to God.
