María Augusta

"I trust in you and I know that you can be good, but you already know that in order to win a battle, you have to fight, you have to give it everything you’ve got".

One of Maria Augusta’s friends, who we are going to call “Maria,” sent us this letter.  With all of her goodness, but also with the full determination to follow the Lord until the end, Maria Augusta gives her dear friend accurate advice to help her come out of the mediocrity in which she was stuck in.  With all sincerity, she says, “Really, I don’t care if you become a nun or if you get married, but live well, as an authentic Christian, not halfway.”  This message isn’t good for only Maria to hear.  It can help us all very much.

Dear Maria,

Let’s see.  It’s not that I want to meddle in your life.  I only want you to be good and to be truly happy.  You already know that you’re stuck in mediocrity.  Get out of there!  Why?  Do you want to stay like that?  No.  You’re not called to live like that.  What’s the problem?  You don’t know how to start over?  Ask our Blessed Mother for help.  She, who has begun her work in you, will never abandon you.  But you have to return with humility, asking God for forgiveness.  He suffers to see you like this, like the prodigal son that went astray but later returned.

I trust in you and I know that you can be good, but you already know that in order to win a battle, you have to fight, you have to give it everything you’ve got.  KEEP GOING, MARIA!  You may be tired, huffing and puffing, crippled, without feeling like it… but KEEP GOING!  Don’t remain stuck in this situation.  Let yourself be helped.  Our Lord and Our Lady are waiting for you with open arms.  You are the apple of their eyes; it is you who they are concerned about.  Put the means.  If looking back helps you, look back and remember how you were before, the things you used to do… And go back to doing them and give even more, because you always have to give more.  The Lord deserves everything.  Maybe you don’t feel the same, but remember the words that you yourself said during the meeting on Sunday: “Why does the Lord permit desolation?  Because He wants you to be perfect.”

Come back, Maria!  Here’s a quote that helped me a lot: NEVER GET TIRED OF ALWAYS HAVING TO START OVER.  If we fall, we have to get up quickly.  We can’t stay in the mud, getting dirtier and dirtier.  NO!  Get up quickly and start over.  I know it’s hard, but it’s possible.  Sometimes our falls strengthen us.  Really, I don’t care if you become a nun or get married, but live well, as an authentic Christian, not halfway, lazy, negligent, comfortable, and that goes to Mass to not feel totally bad, because if you don’t go it’s obvious that you’re not doing well, because that’s not Christian.  Do you understand what I am saying?  I’m not perfect and I’m in the same battle as you, wanting to be a true Christian.

You told me that you don’t know how to start over.  I’m not the best person to tell you how.  You know who can help you and if you’re not capable of telling them, then write it on a piece of paper, but ask for help, girl! :)

Be brave. The battle is difficult, but the Lord trusts in you. He’ll give you the strength to overcome, even though you don’t always overcome yourself.

Don’t ignore the voice of your conscience which speaks to you.  Listen to it.

The Lord loves you in a personal way. Believe it.

Sincerely,

Maria Augusta

Tomorrow is your birthday.  It’s a good day to start a new life, right?  Ask for big things, ask for a new heart that can love God more, ask for the strength to start over.  I’m sure He’s desiring to grant you everything that you ask of Him.

I love you a lot.

            BE BRAVE!!

I’m praying for you.  Pray for me too, please :)
