Jazmina was my camp counselor at my third camp with the Home of the Mother. I never would have imagined that this camp would be her last. We had a great time. We laughed a lot together. I was amazed by her joy and her fighting spirit. Whenever we made a funny comment in the middle of a talk, she would get serious and correct us, but then she would laugh with us, too.
According to what she herself told us, it wasn’t easy for her to accept her vocation. This helped me start thinking: ““Why am I in the Home? What is it that the Lord wants of me here? Why do I have this opportunity while others do not?””
Something I will never forget is how, one day during the camp, the subject of the talk was Friendship. Jazmina started talking about Mayra. She said that Mayra was her best friend, but when they entered the Servant Sisters as candidates, their relationship changed from friends to Sisters. She seemed so sincere about this. You could tell it was what she had on her heart.
They were the first girls I met when I first came to the Home. They came over to welcome me and we hit it off. I remember the first time I saw them, it seemed as if we had known each other forever. I have so many fond memories of them!
