Have Faith and WALK

Carolina Aveiga, Ecuador:

carolina aveigaShe saw with such clarity that everything that we do has to be done to give "glory to God" and every time I lost sight of that, it was she that reminded me.

Carolina Aveiga is from Ecuador. She knew Sr. Clare and the 5 candidates well.

Jazmina was a very joyful and fun girl. She would always tell you what she needed to say when she saw that it was appropriate. Her eyes expressed everything: if she was sad, happy, tired… All you had to do was look at her eyes and you could discover right away what she had inside. She could be going through a difficult moment, but she always, always did everything with joy. More than once, she expressed the huge desire she had to go to Spain and begin the novitiate. While saying this, she had a special glow in her eyes and a smile that spoke more than words.

I learned a lot of things from Jazmina. From her I learned how to defend my criteria, I learned the importance of doing apostolate, I learned that it's not enough to just invite girls to the Home of the Mother meetings, but that I needed to insist and completely give of myself during those meetings. She always looked after all of us and she had a very special gift to get to know people. She always knew when something was wrong with one of the girls and always tried to encourage her.

Note written by Jazmina to Carolina

I remember one day when Mayra and Jazmina decided to come to my house. When they came into my room, Jazmina looked at everything and said, "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity". At that moment I knew that I had to stop using a lot of things that kept me away from God. Another time, when I started to go to the gym, she told me, "Why do you go? Do you think that is pleasing to God?" She saw with such clarity that everything that we do has to be done to give "glory to God" and every time I lost sight of that, it was she that reminded me.

The last time I saw her she was very happy because she was going to Playa Prieta. She told me that she loved all of us girls very much, but that she needed to be with the other candidates and with the Sisters. Before she went to Playa Prieta she left me this note:

"Neither waves nor winds will make her sink. For just one, I give a hundredfold. Have faith and WALK. SET OUT INTO THE DEEP."
