Another memory of Catalina is when she came to our camp in 2014. She had met us not long before then. She really enjoyed playing soccer and often participated in championships. She had a championship game on the Sunday during the camp. In fact, the camp began on Thursday and ended the following Wednesday. Catalina decided to take part in the game and go back to camp the next day. And that is what she did.
She had gone to confession at the beginning of the camp. At camp we have Mass every day and she knew that she had to be in a state of grace to be able to receive Jesus. She arrived just before Mass when she came back on Monday after her game. Sr. Sara asked me if I knew if Catalina had gone to Mass the day before. It was important to know because one cannot skip Mass on Sunday. I went to ask her and she said that she hadn’t gone. I said to her, “Hurry and go to confession.” She stood up right away. The priest was ready to begin Mass and it was only a minute before he came out. She went to confession at the foot of the altar and received the absolution. I was impressed seeing God’s grace working in her. The mercy and love that Our Lord showed for her seemed so evident to me.
