On April 16th, 2016, there was a strong earthquake in Manabí (Ecuador), where there is a community of Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother. The house collapsed completely, causing the death of a professed sister, Sr. Clare Crockett and five young women who were in their first steps of formation as Servant Sisters: Jazmina, Mayra, Maria Augusta, Valeria and Catalina.

Date of Birth: 05-14-2000,  Portoviejo, Ecuador
Date of Entrance in the Servant Sisters: 10-17-15
Date of Death: 04-16-2016, Playa Prieta, Ecuador

We compared her to St. Dominic Savio, the young disciple of St. John Bosco, because like him Valeria was convinced – as she said several times – that she had to be holy soon, because she did not know how much time she had. Seeing how events have unfolded, witnessing her death at the age of fifteen, one cannot help but realize that it was the Lord Himself who put this desire on her heart.
