“Catalina with a C”

Catalina jugando en la arena

Maria Jose Zambrano, Ecuador: On the handkerchief, she wrote: “Catalina with a C. Thank you for your attention and care. Fight for your ideals! May God’s plans for you also be your plans.”

Catalina was Maria Jose Zambrano’s team leader at her first summer camp with the Home of the Mother and played an important role in her conversion, as she has already told us in a different article

This time, Maria Jose sends us a photo of a handkerchief from that summer camp, and she explains the quote Catalina dedicated to her. It was Catalina’s answer to an untimely question from Maria Jose. The serene and smiling reaction of Catalina obtained a change of heart for Maria Jose.

PañoletaThis image is very special for me, and it represents a lot. It is the handkerchief from my first summer camp with the Home of the Mother, in 2015, where I had the huge blessing that Catalina was my team leader. Since I was of a different religion, she helped me a lot. I always asked a ton of things, and she responded to what she could, and what she couldn’t, she just asked the sisters.

On the handkerchief, she wrote: “Catalina with a C. Thank you for your attention and care. Fight for your ideals! May God’s plans for you also be your plans.”

She wrote "Catalina with a C" because, on the first day of camp, we were in a team meeting and the topic was, “Mary, Mystical Rose.” Since I didn’t believe in the Virgin Mary, I didn’t want to listen to anything about the topic, and so—in the middle of the talk—I asked her, “Do you write Catalina with a K or with a C?” She smiled at me and said, “With a C.” I remember that her attitude surprised me so much. I thought that I would make her mad for having interrupted her and for changing the subject. From that moment on, the subject caught my attention, and during the entire summer camp, I always waited for the sunset so that the moment for the team meetings would arrive, because Catalina had an impressive way of explaining the topics while answering my doubts.
