On April 16th, 2016, there was a strong earthquake in Manabí (Ecuador), where there is a community of Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother. The house collapsed completely, causing the death of a professed sister, Sr. Clare Crockett and five young women who were in their first steps of formation as Servant Sisters: Jazmina, Mayra, Maria Augusta, Valeria and Catalina.

Catalina had had an intense conversion after living a life far from God. She had spent two years in preparation to enter as a candidate. She had been accepted as a candidate, but had not yet made her official commitment.

Catalina ardently desired to give herself to God as a Servant Sister of the Home of the Mother.  And in fact, in her heart, she had already made that surrender of self, and she showed it with her life.
